Amerilert Announces Twitter Integration
Enables Amerilert customers to push alerts directly to a Twitter account
LEESBURG, VA – October 30, 2008 – Omnilert®, LLC today announced that the Amerilert® emergency notification system is now integrated with Twitter. This enables Amerilert clients to push alerts automatically and simultaneously to their organization’s Twitter account without having to login into their Twitter account separately. People who follow their organization’s Twitter would then receive alerts through Twitter without ever having to sign up for Amerilert. There is no cost for Amerilert clients to utilize this new feature.
“Using technology that is most relevant to your staff, citizens and others is the best way to reach them quickly,” stated Nick Gustavsson, Chief Technology Officer of Omnilert, LLC. “All the organization has to do is add the free Twitter utility to their Amerilert account and then publish their Twitter name so people can follow it to receive alerts.”
About Twitter
Twitter is a free communication service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS, email or through an application such as Twitterrific or Facebook. Visit www.twitter.com to learn more.
